Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, an internationally reputed institution dedicated to the promotion of education and culture, is a charitable public trust founded by Dr. K.M. Munshi in November 7, 1938. From small beginning, the Bhavan has grown into a great intellectual, cultural and educational movement with 112 Kendra in India, 8 overseas Centers (in United Kingdom, United States of America, Canada, Portugal, South Africa, Kuwait, Mexico and Australia) and 280 constituent institutions, besides a number of affiliated colleges.
Only graduates of a recognised University are eligible for admission. Those who have appeared for final graduation examination may be admitted provisionally but if they do not produce evidence of graduation before 30th of September 2011, they will not get admission.
Duration of Courses:
FRENCH, SPANISH, CHINESE AND JAPANESE: Two-Years courses divided into 4 semesters of 5 months each. There will be an examination at the end of each semester in December/May. Students coming out successful in the examination after the second Semester will be awarded the Certificates. Those who pass the examination held after the fourth semester will be awarded Diploma. Emphasis is given in Conversation and Translation in 3rd and 4th Semesters.
FRENCH ADVANCED COURSE TWO SEMESTERS (5TH & 6TH SEMESTER) (FIVE MONTH EACH): This course is offered to those who have completed two years French Course, to enable the candidates acquire mastery in the language and Literature.
ARABIC & RUSSIAN: One-Year course divided into two semesters of 5 months each. There will be an examination at the end of each semester in December/May. Students passing out at the end of the Second Semester will be awarded the Certificates.
GERMAN: Five month intensive course, leading to admission at Max Mueller Bhavan for further study.
CREATIVE COMMUNICATION SKILLS IN ENGLISH: Five Months course giving emphasis on creative use of language and conversation, and to develop confidence in dealing with the language.
ADVANCED ENGLISH AND CREATIVE WRITING:
Course will comprise of 4 papers:
Spoken English Skills:
It helps to develop fluency in speaking English, to understand more informal idiomatic and phrasal expressions, to prepare for job-interviews and group discussions etc.
Creative – Writing:
It helps in developing ideas and plots, characters and settings write articles for media anchoring and presentation etc.
Development of Soft-Skills:
For presentation Conducting Interviews and Talk-Shows Customer care Time management etc.
Business Communication:
It helps to provide a clear and more professional service to the customers online. It also helps in writing business letters, e-mails, fax etc., Conducting meetings, preparing agenda, minutes, briefing and lecturing Report writing etc.
Application for admission to any of these language Courses should be made in the attached form and should reach to the Director, Jawaharlal Nehru Academy of Languages, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi-110001 along with the prescribed fee before the commencement of the course. Admission is on the first-come- first- served basis.
Applications for admission are to be submitted in the attached form along with a copy of Mark sheet or Certificate of graduation and registration fee of Rs. 400/- between Wednesday, 20th April and Friday, 20th May, 2011. These will be scrutinized and selections made after tests and interviews. The final list of candidates selected for admission will be announced by Thursday, 30th June, 2011. Registration fee is non-refundable.
